To coincide with the project’s 4th Annual Meeting we made arrangements to visit to the Ørsterild onshore test centre, managed by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) on the north coast of Denmark.
On Tuesday 26th April, a group of 28 project members made the 90-minute journey from Aalborg where we were given a presentation from Allan Vesth of DTU explaining the history of the site and on how it operates to assist with turbine technology development. Three of the nine test sites are currently rented by SGRE so Esben Orlowitz and Claus Schroeder told us how SGRE use the facilities to test and develop their turbine equipment. After a tour of the site from a DTU guide, we were allowed some free time to walk around and explore for ourselves.
